What do these products do?
They do the groundwork before you lay a final floor or surface: primers, moisture barriers, bonding agents, screeds, and levelling compounds. Each does a specific job on the substrate, so match the product to your condition, not the name.
How do I choose the right primer?
Start with your substrate and what goes on top. Concrete, timber, tile, and existing surfaces each need a different primer. Check the technical data for the substrate list, coverage rate, and what it bonds to. Fix damp or contaminated substrate before priming.
Do I need a moisture barrier before screeding?
If the slab is on grade or damp-proofing is uncertain, test for moisture first. A moisture barrier or epoxy moisture seal goes down before the screed or levelling compound. Skipping it risks bond failure. Check the product data for the moisture limit it tolerates.
What is the difference between a screed and a levelling compound?
A screed builds thickness and creates the wearing surface, often over a large area. A levelling compound corrects minor variation and prepares a flat substrate for tile or flooring. They are not interchangeable. Check the data for spread, thickness, and bondable substrate.
Can I use a bonding agent over an epoxy moisture barrier?
Check the product data. Some bonding agents go over an epoxy moisture barrier and some do not. The primer, barrier, and screed or levelling compound have to work as a system. Follow the manufacturer's sequence and compatibility notes. When in doubt, ask us.
Do I need to check technical data before using these products?
Yes. Every product has limits on substrate, moisture, temperature, coverage, mix ratio, and cure time. The data sheet tells you what it can and cannot do. Read it before you open the bucket. If your job is outside the data sheet, ask us.
