Description  

BAT Eco SynSafe Acid is an acid-based cleaning and surface-preparation product for suitable masonry and concrete applications, including removal of cementitious residues, grout haze and mineral build-up where the surface is compatible. It may also be used for concrete etching where the following coating system specifies acid etching.

Where to use it

  • Cleaning suitable brick and masonry surfaces affected by cement or mortar residue.
  • Removing cementitious grout haze from acid-resistant tiles, subject to tile and grout manufacturer guidance.
  • Preparing suitable concrete surfaces where acid etching is required by the coating manufacturer.

Selection and handling

This is an acidic product. Check the current product SDS and directions before handling, dilution or application. Wear the protection specified by the SDS, test a discreet area and protect incompatible adjacent materials. Do not apply to uncoated aluminium. Avoid acid-sensitive stone and surfaces unless expressly approved for the application, and do not allow the cleaner to dry on the surface.

Cleaning results depend on the residue, surface and application method. Rinse and neutralise only as directed by the applicable manufacturer instructions. Do not interpret reduced odour or marketing descriptions as evidence that skin contact, eye contact or inhalation is safe.

Common Questions  

Can SynSafe Acid be used on aluminium?
Do not use it on uncoated aluminium because the surface may discolour or etch. For pumping and transfer, use compatible 316 stainless steel, polypropylene or polyethylene equipment.

Uses & Benefits  
Biodegradable acid-replacement cleaner for concrete etching, grout-haze removal, brick and masonry cleaning, rust removal and mineral-scale cleaning. Active pH is below 1, with no VOCs and low fumes. Physical properties published with the current product data include specific gravity 1.152 ± 0.04, freezing point -31.6°C and complete water solubility.
How To Apply  
Shake before use and test compatibility on a small area. Apply by brush, mop or low-pressure sprayer. Use undiluted for heavy build-up or dilute 1:3 with water for light cleaning. Allow 5–10 minutes dwell time according to surface condition, but do not allow the product to dry. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and repeat if required. Dry tools and metal surfaces after rinsing.
Limitations and Safety Info  
Do not use on uncoated aluminium; discolouration or etching may occur. Always test a small inconspicuous area before full application. Do not allow the product to dry on the surface. Heavy or aged deposits may require repeated applications. For pumping or transfer, use compatible equipment such as 316 stainless steel, polypropylene or polyethylene rather than aluminium fittings.
