Gripset C-Bed is a preblended, polymer-modified cementitious floor screed for forming levels, ramps and drainage falls before tiling or installing floor finishes. Its slump-free, shrinkage-compensated formulation gives installers a consistent, shapeable alternative to batching sand and cement on site. It is suitable for internal and external flooring work, including new builds and remedial projects.
Where C-Bed works best
- Shower bases and wet-area falls: form a stable screed bed with the slope required to drain.
- Ramps and floor build-ups: shape transitions, levels and local uneven areas ahead of the floor covering.
- Concrete floor repairs: create a consistent base over suitably prepared concrete in refurbishment or remedial work.
- Tile and other floor underlays: prepare suitable areas for ceramic tiles and compatible carpet, vinyl or timber floor systems.
Working and curing guide
- 5–200 mm screed thickness: covers shallow corrections through substantial floor build-ups.
- At least 3 hours working time: allows time to place and shape falls and levels.
- Light foot traffic from about 8 hours: helps speed up busy project schedules.
- Ceramic tiling from about 24 hours: in standard conditions at approximately 23°C and 50% relative humidity.
- Coverage: one 20 kg bag covers approximately 2 m² at 5 mm thickness on a suitably prepared surface.
Choosing the right floor preparation product
C-Bed is a shapeable screed, not a flow-applied self-levelling compound. Choose it when falls to wastes, ramps or specified build thicknesses need to be formed accurately. Its water-resistant formulation also helps reduce the efflorescence risk associated with conventional site-mixed sand/cement blends; it does not replace a waterproofing membrane where one is required.
Preparation and finishing
Place on sound, clean and suitably prepared substrates using the appropriate bonded or unbonded construction method. Finished levels, cure time and residual moisture must suit the next floor covering. Cooler temperatures, high humidity and thicker sections can extend drying, particularly before moisture-sensitive floor finishes are installed. For subsequent wet-area waterproofing, compare Gripset 38FC and Gripset Xpress Multi Pro for the specified system.
How thick can Gripset C-Bed be installed?
About 5mm to 200mm depending on whether the screed is bonded or unbonded.
When can it be waterproofed or tiled?
After about 24 hours at 23°C and 50% relative humidity.
What compressive strength does it reach?
Greater than 40MPa at 28 days.
How much water is used per 20kg bag?
About 1.8 litres of clean water.
- Concrete.
- Concrete block and masonry.
- Compatible Gripset wet-area membranes.
- Prepared mineral floor substrates approved for bonded or unbonded screed systems.
