For laminate and foam fabrication, auto upholstery, and transport vehicle assembly, Everbond Spray Contact SP-230 provides a fast-drying, highly heat-resistant bond. Formulated as a one-component polychloroprene adhesive, it delivers rapid initial grab and a strong bond capable of holding materials with high spring-back forces, such as cover trims and edging profiles.
How it works
Everbond Spray Contact SP-230 functions through contact bonding, requiring application to both mating surfaces. Once applied, the volatile solvents evaporate quickly during a short flash-off window. Bringing the two touch-dry surfaces together under strong, even pressure creates an immediate, high-strength bond that resists both heat and water. The formulation is also resistant to ageing, preserving bond integrity over time in demanding environments like vehicle cabins and furniture upholstery.
Numbers that matter
-
3 to 5 minutes dry time: A short flash-off window that speeds up assembly and fabrication sequences.
-
6 to 8m² per litre consumption: Provides a predictable coverage rate for estimating material requirements across large surfaces.
-
10°C to 35°C application range: The allowable temperature window for applying the adhesive without compromising bond development.
Where to use it
This adhesive bonds a broad range of materials and is suitable for:
-
Substrates: Timber, MDF, particleboard, rubber sheets, plastic laminates, leather, fabric, cloth-backed and polyester-backed vinyl, concrete, glass, and metal sheets.
-
Transport vehicle assembly: Room temperature contact bonding of PUR foams and textiles to adjacent steps, wheel arches, seat brackets, and side walls.
-
Upholstery: Automotive and furniture upholstery applications, especially where high spring-back forces are present.
Limitations
- Do not apply in temperatures below +10°C; condensed water can form on the adhesive film and prevent a proper bond. For optimal performance, apply when the atmosphere, material, and adhesive are all at +20°C.
- Do not apply excessive adhesive, allow it to pool, or join the substrates too early. Entrapped solvents will weaken the bond or cause blistering and complete bond failure.
- Adhesion and compatibility must be verified by testing actual substrates and conditions prior to full-scale application.
Application
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oils, grease, and loose or friable materials. Apply Everbond Spray Contact SP-230 evenly to both surfaces using a suitable spray gun, rollcoater, tooth-comb, or brush. For porous or open-weave materials, spray application is recommended to prevent the adhesive from bleeding through the face of the substrate.
Wait 3 to 5 minutes until the adhesive is touch-dry before bringing the materials together with strong, even pressure. Once the container is opened, the material must be used within a short timeframe. Clean up wet adhesive tools and residue with acetone.
