Frequently Asked Questions
Which masking tape gives the sharpest paint edge?
The green KwikMask120. Its ultra-thin washi construction conforms to the surface and blocks capillary paint bleed under the edge. General-purpose tape suits sheeting and rougher masks where razor edges do not matter.
How long can I leave masking tape on before removal?
General purpose lifts clean for a few days. The green tape carries a 60-day clean removal window, which suits multi-coat repaints and exterior work exposed to UV between coats.
Can masking tape handle heat?
Only the green tape. It resists the bake temperatures of heat-cured industrial coatings. Standard general-purpose tape will lift or leave residue under heat.
Does it work on freshly painted surfaces?
On fully cured paint, yes. On paint younger than its recoat window, any tape risks lifting the fresh coat when removed. Check the paint's recoat time before taping over it.
