RLA Luminous SSG is a standard-set ceramic tile grout for internal and external tile joints from 1 mm to 15 mm. It has a respirable silica free formulation, is Global Green Tag Certified, is classified CG2W to ISO 13007 and is suitable for immersed applications.
Use it to grout porcelain, ceramic, terrazzo, slate, quarry tiles, glass, mosaics and natural stone excluding moisture-sensitive types. Its shrinkage-compensated formulation, reduced water absorption, smooth finish and built-in water and mould resistance support colour uniformity, reduced dirt retention and long-term appearance.
Allow the tile adhesive to cure before grouting, remove spacers and clear the full joint depth of dust, excess adhesive and loose material. Add the powder to clean water, mix with a low-speed paddle until smooth, stand for 3 minutes and lightly remix. Compact the grout through the full joint depth, wait approximately 15–30 minutes before cleaning, then use a well-rinsed damp sponge with minimal water.
It is suitable for tile joints from 1 mm to 15 mm wide.
The TDS lists porcelain, ceramic, terrazzo, slate, quarry tiles, glass, mosaics and natural stone excluding moisture-sensitive types.
It is suitable for immersed applications. For swimming pools or other challenging conditions requiring increased performance, the TDS directs users to add RLA Plastinex to the mixing liquid or consider RLA Luminous EF Grout or RLA Luminous Epoxy Grout.
Use 240 mL of water per kg of grout, 960 mL per 4 kg bag or 2.4 litres per 10 kg bag. Always add the powder to the liquid.
At 23°C and 50% relative humidity, allow 24 hours for light foot traffic and 3 days for full service. Dense tiles, wider joints, cooler temperatures or higher humidity require longer.
| Application | Why it fits |
|---|---|
| Internal and external tile joints from 1 mm to 15 mm | Designed for internal and external use, with a CG2W classification to ISO 13007 and a shrinkage-compensated formulation. |
| Porcelain, ceramic, glass and mosaics | These tile types are specifically listed in the TDS; the smooth finish is intended to reduce dirt retention and improve stain resistance. |
| Terrazzo, slate and quarry tiles | These tile types are specifically listed, with abrasion resistance, reduced water absorption and water resistance documented. |
| Natural stone excluding moisture-sensitive types | Suitable for the named stone category, subject to the TDS exclusion and the need to test absorbent or textured surfaces for cleaning and discolouration. |
| Immersed applications | The TDS states that the grout is suitable for immersed use. Swimming pools are listed as a challenging condition where RLA Plastinex or an alternative RLA grout may be required for increased performance. |
| Floors with underfloor heating | The technical data lists underfloor heating as suitable. |
Danger: The SDS classifies the product as hazardous and states that it causes skin irritation, causes serious eye damage and may cause respiratory irritation.
