  • Smooth Finish and Easy Cleaning: Low water absorption and a smooth final surface make it easy to clean and maintain, keeping tiled areas looking pristine.
  • Excellent Workability: Easy to mix and apply, providing a consistent and smooth finish with minimal effort.
  • Wide Range of Colours: Available in 15 colours, allowing for perfect matching with any tile design and aesthetic preference.

Technical Overview

Mapei Keracolor FF is formulated with a blend of cement, very fine-graded aggregates, special polymers, additives, and pigments. The inclusion of hydrophobic additives and BioBlock® technology ensures a high-performance grout that is both durable and easy to maintain. It provides excellent compressive and flexural strength, as well as resistance to freeze/thaw cycles.

Chemical Properties: Cementitious grout with polymer modifiers, hydrophobic additives (DropEffect®), and mould-resistant technology (BioBlock®).

Application Temperature Range: +5°C to +35°C (41°F to 95°F). Apply within this range to ensure proper setting and performance, avoiding extreme temperatures that can affect curing.

Application Information

  • Required Tools: Low-speed mixer, MAPEI trowel or rubber float, hard cellulose sponge (e.g., MAPEI sponge), Scotch-Brite® pad or disc-type power float.
  • Trade-Specific Tips: Ensure joints are clean and raked back to 2/3 of the tile thickness. Use the correct water ratio for mixing and avoid adding water to a setting mix. For smooth surfaces, use a damp Scotch-Brite® pad for finishing.
  • Common Issues and Solutions: Efflorescence can occur due to excess water; ensure correct water ratio and allow substrates to dry thoroughly. Colour variations can result from different water ratios; maintain consistent mixing.

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Storage Requirements: Store in a dry place in original packaging.
  • Shelf Life Information: 12 months in 20 kg bags, 24 months in 2 kg and 5 kg Alupaks.
  • Temperature Considerations: Avoid storing in extreme temperatures or damp conditions to maintain product integrity.

Certifications

  • Classified as CG2WA according to EN 13888 and ISO 13007-3.
  • EMICODE: EC1 Plus - very low emission.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mapei Keracolor FF

Q: Can Mapei Keracolor FF be used in swimming pools?

A: Yes, Keracolor FF is suitable for swimming pools. However, for pools using saline electrolysis, Ultracolor Plus or Kerapoxy is recommended.

Q: How long should I wait before cleaning the grout?

A: Wait 10-20 minutes after application, when the grout loses plasticity and becomes matt, before cleaning with a damp sponge.

Q: What is the recommended water ratio for mixing Keracolor FF?

A: Mix 100 parts of Keracolor FF with 26-28 parts of water by weight, depending on the colour. For floors, you can add slightly more water (27-30%).

Q: Can I use Keracolor FF in expansion joints?

A: No, expansion and movement joints should be filled with appropriate flexible MAPEI sealants, not Keracolor FF.

Q: How do I remove efflorescence from the grout surface?

A: Efflorescence can be caused by excess water or residual moisture. Ensure proper mixing and allow substrates to dry thoroughly. For existing efflorescence, clean with an acid cleaner like Keranet, following the instructions.

Q: What types of tiles are compatible with Keracolor FF?

A: Keracolor FF is compatible with a wide range of tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, marble, granite, agglomerates, glass, and marble mosaics.

Q: How long before the grouted area can be used?

A: Floors are set to light foot traffic after 24 hours and ready for full traffic after 7 days. Swimming pools can be filled 7 days after grouting.

Use Mapei Keracolor FF for:

  • Grouting interior and exterior floor and wall tiling (ceramic, porcelain, etc.).
  • Grouting stone materials (natural stones, marble, granite, agglomerates).
  • Grouting glass and marble mosaics.
  • Grouting swimming pools.
  • Grouting smooth and glossy floor surfaces.

Why Use Mapei Keracolor FF:

  • Water repellency: DropEffect® technology reduces water absorption and dirtiness.
  • Mould resistance: BioBlock® technology prevents mould and mildew growth.
  • Durability: High compressive and flexural strength, resistant to freeze/thaw cycles.
  • Easy cleaning: Smooth surface with low water absorption.
  • Aesthetic appeal: Available in 15 colours to match various tile designs.

How to apply Mapei Keracolor FF:

  1. Prepare Joints: Ensure joints are clean, free of dust, and raked back to 2/3 of the tile thickness.
  2. Prepare the Mix: Mix Keracolor FF with 26-28% water by weight using a low-speed mixer.
  3. Apply the Grout: Fill joints completely using a MAPEI trowel or rubber float, ensuring full compaction.
  4. Remove Excess Grout: While fresh, remove excess grout with a float diagonally across joints.
  5. Finish: After 10-20 minutes, clean with a damp sponge, working diagonally to the joints.
  6. Final Cleaning: Remove residual haze with a dry cloth; use an acid cleaner (e.g., Keranet) after 10 days if necessary.
