Everflex Primer WBP is a water-based, penetrating acrylic primer for porous concrete, screeds, cement render, brickwork and fibre-cement surfaces. It controls surface absorption and improves the bond of compatible waterproofing membranes, tile adhesives and levelling compounds.
Choose WBP when the substrate is absorbent and needs a consistent base before coating or tiling. For mixed porous and non-porous surfaces, compare Everflex Multi-Prime, which has a different neat-versus-diluted application method. Neither WBP nor Multi-Prime is a moisture-vapour barrier like a correctly installed Everflex VBS system.
Where Primer WBP works
-
Shower and bathroom preparation: priming porous walls and floors before compatible Everflex under-tile membranes.
-
Concrete and cement screeds: regulating absorption before a specified liquid waterproofing membrane.
-
Levelling compounds: preparing suitable mineral subfloors for approved self-levelling products.
-
Tile adhesives and grouts: creating an even primed surface ahead of compatible cement-based products.
-
Fibre-cement and masonry: conditioning approved sheeting, render, brick and Hebel substrates.
Application and limitations
Clean and prepare the substrate, removing curing compounds and release agents. Apply by brush, roller or suitable spray to achieve complete wetting; on very absorbent surfaces a second application may be needed. Under normal conditions it can dry in approximately 15–30 minutes, depending on porosity and weather. Apply subsequent compatible layers at the specified stage.
WBP is not designed for non-porous glazed tiles, rising damp or hydrostatic pressure. Do not apply to wet or contaminated surfaces or leave it as an exposed UV or trafficable finish.
